RIFNA is a national organization that promotes equestrian sports in the middle and high schools.  By encouraging local barns and coaches to become part of the RIFNA organization, RIFNA is able to help interested educational institutions to train at a facility that is convenient.  RIFNA also works with riders ages 12-18 to establish teams at their schools or barns. 

RIFNA strives to develop safe and educated riders by offering affordable lessons at RIFNA-member barns with a RIFNA-member coach.  Horse ownership is not required; the member barn supplies all of the horse and tack needed to lesson and compete.  RIFNA also assists its member barns to set up educational clinics to educate the riders while they earn their educational points.    To further develop the rider's skill, member barns hold RIFNA-sanctional meets and shows in a college-based format.  Riders do not ride their own horses; instead, they "show" on a horse that is drawn for them.  Whether it is a head-to-heat invitational meet or a multi-discipline tournament, each rider rides the horse from the draw.
