Farm Guidelines for RIFNA students

General Requirements:

A competing RIFNA member must be riding consistently (weekly) with a trainer (either through  RIFNA or independently).  RIFNA will require "proof" of lessons.

However, prior to competing in any RIFNA competition, students will be required to lesson with their RIFNA team coach a minimum of 3 times within the current 30 day period.

Lesson guidelines for RIFNA members:

Horse assignment:  The list showing the horse/rider assignment for that day's lesson should be posted prior to the arrival of the student riders.  It is the coach's responsibility to make sure that each student rider has an opportunity to ride different horses to better his/her ability to adapt to the different horses that will be ridden at RIFNA competitions.

Arriving late to a lesson -  it will be the coach's discretion to allow a rider arriving late to enter the lesson or not, based upon the condition of the lesson.

Rescheduling a lesson - If a student is unable to make his/her lesson and a cancellation notice was given, he/she should be given the opportunity to reschedule with the coach prior to the end of the month.  There will be no rollover lessons.

Canceling a lesson - requires 24 hour advance notice.  If no cancellation,  no show, lesson will not be allowed to be made up or rescheduled.  No refunds will be given.

As part of the RIFNA program, a student rider should be given the responsibility of arriving on time, checking the riding list to see what horse has been assigned to him/her, grooming & properly tacking the horse prior to the lesson, and being mounted and ready to begin at the lesson time.  Warm-up for a horse that has not been ridden should be the responsbility of the student rider as directed by the coach.

Following the riding lesson, each student should have the responsibility to untack the horse, clean and store the tack used, and any other responsibilities as assigned by his/her coach in the care and maintenance of the horse and equipment.
