Hunt Seat Equitation

General Qualification:  A rider should feel confident on a qualified but unknown horse at all times in the show ring to show in RIFNA competitions.

 

Class A

The Class A rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse while maneuvering a 2’9’’ course.  The Class A Rider must have ridden at USEF/USET Medal or equivalent equitation class in recognized competition.  The rider must  have competed in combined training events at preliminary level or higher.  Pony Club Riders rated “A” are eligible for this division. If a rider has shown in AQHA, APHA, ApHC, or equivalent, he/she must have shown in Youth World, Worlds, Nationals, or Congress in either Equitation Over Fences or Working Hunter/Equitation.

 

Class B

The Class B rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse while maneuvering a 2’6’’ course, but has never competed in any 3’6’’ or higher classes. Riders who have competed in combined training events, at training level, should complete in the RIFNA Class B level.  Pony Club Riders rated “B” are eligible for this division.

 

Class C

The Class C Rider feels that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse while maneuvering a 2’3’’ course, but has not competed in any 3’ or higher classes.  A rider who has competed in combined training events at novice level or a Pony Club Rider rated “C” or higher is eligible for this division.  Rider can have up to five years of showing experience and should feel confident at all gaits on all qualified horses with others in the ring and/or by his/her self.

 

Class D

The Class D Rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse while maneuvering a 2’ course or has participated in more than five (5) equitation classes at local or rated shows in the past three (3) years.  Rider can have up to four years of showing experience and should feel confident at all gaits on all qualified horses with others in the ring and/or by his/her self.

 

Class E

The Class E Rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse while showing in a cross-rail class at a canter.  Rider cannot have competed in any local or rated shows in divisions greater than 2’.  The rider may not have competed in pre-novice combined training level or have won more than three (3) equitation classes in the Hunter/Equitation ring in the past two (2) years.  This division is for a rider who has competed over fences no higher than 2’ and has never schooled higher than 2’6”.    The Class E rider should feel confident at the canter on all qualified horses in the arena with others and/or by his/her self.  Rider can have up to three years of showing experience.

 

Class F

The Class F Rider feels confident that he/she can maintain control over any unknown but qualified horse while directing horse over cross-rails at the trot and can demonstrate correct diagonals and correct equitation.  Rider can have absolutely no showing experience over fences in his/her riding background.  The Class F rider should have less than three years of formal riding training and minimal equitation showing experience.

 

 

Class G

The Class G Rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse with other riders in the arena as well as directing the horse over a course of poles at the canter demonstrating correct leads and SIMPLE changes.  The Class G rider should have no more than two years of formal training and no show experience. 

 

Class H

The Class H Rider feels confident that he/she can keep control over any unknown but qualified horse with other riders in the arena as well as directing the horse over a course of poles at the trot demonstrating correct diagonals and correct equitation.  The Class H rider has no competition experience, very little riding experience, and no formal training before joining RIFNA.
