A State Final is a show held by a Host Facility organized by the State Chairperson with the approval of RIFNA and in compliance with RIFNA rules and regulations. A State Final shall include classes from all three recognized disciplines (Hunter/Equitation, Western, and Dressage). Every State shall hold 2 State Finals. One competition will be for individual riders and the other will be a Team competition.
Individual State Finals A rider may compete in the Individual State Finals in his/her appropriate class(es) in one or more disciplines if the rider is one of the top three (3) individual riders from their Individual Regional Final competition. Regional Individual Finals will be run like a tournament with classes from all 3 disciplines. The top 5 riders in each class from the State Finals will go on to represent their State at Zone Finals.
Team State Finals Teams may compete in the Team State Finals if the Team is one of the top two (2) Teams in their Team Regional Final. All Teams that have qualified for State competition will compete in a bracket competition to determine the State champion. The first and second rounds of competition will be at the Team home facilities. Teams will host other Teams from around the State. For Quarter-final, Semi-Finals, and Championship competition, a State host facility will be chosen. The State governing board will determine the location and the horses used. All rounds will be run like meets where the riders compete one on one and ride the same horse for each heat. The final two Teams will compete on the final day of competition. These Teams will go on to compete at Zone Finals. The highest placed High School Teams will be declared the High School State Champion and the highest placed Middle School Team will be declared the Middle School State Champion.
