Riders do not have to transport a horse or provide tack, and show fees are less. RIFNA rewards scholarships and continuing education on horse health care, in addition to ribbons and trophies in the show ring.
With RIFNA, middle and high school students can ride western, hunt seat and dressage as part of a team, representing their school or barn. Points earned by the riders count towards their teams’ overall score. They are recognized at school as “athletes” the same as ball players, swimmers, and other team sports
RIFNA takes the benefits of riding such as self-esteem, communication, decision making and leadership skills to a new level by adding team work, horse care and sportsmanship not always found in horse activities.
With RIFNA’s competition format, riders are learning skills that will increase their chances of qualifying for college riding teams and athletic scholarships. RIFNA riders enter college already knowing how to ride on an unfamiliar horse, giving them a “leg up” over riders whose only experience is in schooling and rated shows.
RIFNA Shows are formatted after IHSA shows. Meets are formatted after the NCAA competitions.

Competition for those students is fierce and admissions counselors and administrators need every tool they can get.
