RIFNA’s first Invitational Meet of the 2004-2005 Season was held at In Your Dreams Farm, Inc. on Saturday, November 13, 2004.  High school students from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, and South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia competed on the “flats” and “fences”.   Keely Ryan, In Your Dreams Farm Coach and Announcer called it a “great effort by all students.  It was truly a great learning experience for all.”

The Invitational Meet is a ride-off between 2 schools and takes only  four hours to complete, instead of all day as a traditional horse show would.  Students rode horses from In Your Dreams Farm, Inc. in the equestrian competition.  The events were split into different classes based upon riding experience.  Each school was represented by one rider per class.

Parents and Students observed the competition while enjoying subs and sodas on the patio overlooking the ring.  The sun finally came out as the last class competed.  It was an over the “fences” class and the two competing riders were been cheered to victory by their fellow students.  The competition ended with a tie in overall points.  As stated by the RIFNA rules, the team with the most points "over fences" wins the meet.  Therefore, the Championship Team Trophy went to South Forsyth High School’s Equestrian Team and Reserve Championship Trophy went to Milton High School’s Equestrian Team.

The real winners may have been the horses who were cared for by non-competing riders from both schools, before, during, and after the equestrian competition.

RIFNA's next Invitational Meet will be held on Monday, November 29, beginning at 5 PM.  It will be an "Over Fences" meet.
